Pastor Melinda Owens

Reverend Melinda Owens is a native of Baton Rouge, Louisiana.   She graduated from Southern University with a Bachelor’s  Degree in Computer Science and the University of Houston – Clear Lake  with a Master’s Degree in Systems Engineering.  She spent several years as an engineer in the aerospace industry.  Yet, it was during her years of work in the oil and gas industry where she received her call to ministry. 

In response to this call, Rev. Owens studied at Southern Methodist University  Perkins  School of Theology, earning a Master of Divinity degree.  In June 2021, she was ordained by Bishop Scott Jones, as an Elder in Full Connection to the Texas Annual Conference of the United Methodist Church. In addition to teaching and preaching, Rev. Owens enjoys traveling and spending time with her husband, Wesley Owens.
